What is the Top Plays page?
Top Plays ranks every tracked Pokémon card by expected profit per PSA submission. Expected profit is not the best-case return — it is the probability-weighted outcome across all grade results, including PSA 9s, lower grades, and misses. Cards are updated continuously using live eBay sold prices and weekly PSA population snapshots.
How is expected profit calculated?
For each card, Graded Edge pulls its historical grade distribution from PSA population data. That distribution is applied to the card's current eBay sold prices at each grade level to produce a weighted average sale price. Your grading tier, shipping cost, and eBay selling fees are then subtracted. The result is the profit figure shown in the table — specific to your cost profile, not a generic industry assumption.
Why does the gem rate matter?
Assuming every submission grades PSA 10 overstates expected returns. Some cards gem at 80%; others gem at 20%. Top Plays applies each card's actual historical rate, so the expected profit figure accounts for the realistic probability of each outcome. This makes a material difference when comparing cards side by side.
Which Pokémon cards are worth grading?
Cards tend to offer strong grading ROI when the spread between raw and PSA 10 prices is wide, the gem rate is consistent, and 90-day eBay sales volume is sufficient to exit without discounting. The filter tools on Top Plays let you screen for exactly these criteria. Browse our Pokémon card sets to explore raw and graded pricing across every tracked set, or sign up to access the full ranking.
